Houston exterior paint works hard. Heat, humidity, intense sun, storms, and shaded areas can all affect how long a finish lasts.
Most homes need exterior repainting every 5 to 10 years, but the right timing depends on the surface, previous prep, product quality, exposure, and maintenance. South- and west-facing walls often show fading earlier because they take more direct sun.
Watch for chalking, peeling, cracked caulk, exposed wood, fading trim, mildew, and gaps around doors or windows. If you catch those issues early, repainting can be more straightforward than waiting until the coating fails across larger areas.
For the best result, plan exterior painting around weather windows and give the surface enough time to dry before coating.
